Storm says

'I've had the good fortune to have known Lou for a number of years having played lacrosse with her sister. Her love of sport has always been hugely apparent but it wasn't until she picked up a serious injury training for the London Marathon a few years ago that she decided to switch from two feet to two wheels. It was quickly obvious a bike and Lou were going to form a great partnership and hit new heights.

Lou has one of the most contagiously energetic personalities you will come across so it's no surprise that she fits in hours on the bike along with being a mother of 2 and holding down a full time job. Her zest for life, to succeed and challenge herself is inspiring (and exhausting!) to all those around her. She never fails to have some crazy challenge and target lined up....going for two World Records in May this year is just another day in the life of Lou it seems!

We are delighted to have our first cyclist join Team DBA and we look forward to supporting her in all of her races and the World Record attempt.'

AMBASSADORS INTERVIEW:

Who inspires you and why?

Billie Fleming inspires me. At the grand age of 100 she passed away in 2014, whilst holding the world record for the greatest distance cycled in a year. She cycled every day of 1938, an average of 80 miles a day to promote women’s fitness and cycling. As a tribute rider last year thoughts of her got me out on my bicycle in all sorts of weather, got me to new places and pushed me further.

Who’s had the biggest influence on your career?

My Dad, he is very driven and always encouraged me to reach my potential and do my best.

What is your current job?

Events Manager for Munzee - an app based scavenger hunt.

What is your favourite Quote?

Shut Up Legs – Jens Voigt

Who is your favourite Athlete?

Paula Radcliffe

Do you have a pre-Race ritual?

I go to the loo just before the race as I won’t get the chance for hours on end! I take peanut butter sandwiches that I can eat whilst riding and not lose time by stopping. I also “touch wood” that I stay safe on the ride each time I go out and after any near misses!

What song best describes you?

Either Don’t Stop Me Now or Insomnia!

Which actress you would like to play you in your life film?

Natalie Portman.

What 5 things you can’t live without?

My phone, tea, padded shorts, fizzy cola bottles and the colour pink.

What would you be doing if you weren’t cycling?

Being full time Mummy to Charlie (7) & Harry (5) or Munzee stuff.

Something that people don’t know about you?

I’m a geek.

What’s the most important factor for success?

Never giving up.

Your mantra of the moment?

I will beat my ass today, to kick yours tomorrow!

What lesson do you refuse to learn?

That my body isn’t as strong as my mind.

What’s your best quality?

My determination.
